The Aussies have Steven Smith(c), David Warner, Cameron Bancroft, Usman Khawaja, Peter Handscomb, Shaun Marsh, Tim Paine as their main batsmen in the lineup. Steve Smith looks like getting a century every innings and he already has three in this series including a double ton at the WACA, Perth. The Australian batting has been such that atleast one of them has stood up when there was a need. Shaun Marsh, Mitchell Marsh, David Warner have been the other centurions in the series so far. As far as the bowling is concerned the the absence of Mitchell Starc did hurt the hosts in the fourth test. The other pacers have been impressive like Pat Cummins, Josh Hazelwood who have been among the wickets. The fielding from the Australians has been top class as well.
The England team has Alastair Cook, Mark Stoneman, Joe Root(c), Dawid Malan, Gary Ballance, James Vince, Moeen Ali, Jonny Bairstow, Chris Woakes as the main players to do the job with the bat. Alastair Cook, the English opener made a superb 244* in the fourth test to improve his record in the series otherwise what has been a poor series for him. Joe Root has got a few fifties but hasn’t been able to convert them in to triple figure scores. Mooen Ali also hasn’t been able to impress much in the series so far. James Anderson has been the stand out bowler from the English camp.
The prediction is of an Australian win with 70-30 chances of winning. This was the preview of the game. Please leave your comments and suggestions in the box below.
